Matt Miller (aka Titan of Technology)
February 2, 2018
Upon browsing Matt Miller's website, I've come to the conclusion that he does. not. mess. around. He will tell it to you straight no matter what "it" is. Mr. Miller's the man you call to beat you upside the head to knock some sense into you. The reason I say this is because he has come to terms with the fact that the direction education is headed in is paved in technology. Matt strives to make it known that "technology is changing the world, and it's changing our schools and classroooms." He is the techiest guy you could ever meet. Above this though, I think the most impactful thing is that he has seen this change first hand because he was a teacher for more than ten years. This proves that he knows what he's talking about and we as future educators can rely on him to learn a few tricks to keep up our sleeves. One of his greatest tools he has to offer us is the book he's written called Ditch That Textbook which is meant to completely change our perspective on traditional teaching and instead offer us innovative ways of thinking and lesson planning. Personally, I think it is amazing that he's done this because it proves that our education system does indeed need to catch up with the times in order for us as future educators to stay "hip" and not bore our future students to death. The best part about Matt's fresh perspective on education is that if for whatever reason we can't have access to the awesome book he wrote, he writes articles/blogs that he posts on his website on a regular basis. These blogs range from topics of incorportating technology in the classroom to teaching strategies to talking about the ideas he's come across since becoming a Google-Certified Innovator. I strongly believe Matt Miller is an outstanding man who has many great ideas to share with anyone who is willing to listen--since he also does speaking engagements. If after reading this, Matt has intrigued you, you can follow him on Twitter, Facebook, Google +, Pinterest, and YouTube to learn more about him and take your first step in the technology direction. |
